Care For Your Clothes

Caring for your garments means caring for the environment, and it is the best way to extend their useful life. We have created this laundry care guide to help you to extend the life of your garments and reduce the environmental impact of care processes. By following this guide, you can reduce the wear and tear on your clothes and reduce the amount of water and energy you consume when washing, drying and caring for your garments.

Full Washing Machines and Low-Speed Spin Cycles.

Every wash uses water and energy. Washing at low temperatures is easier on garments, prevents them from shrinking, doesn't fade colours and consumes less energy.

Line Drying

Tumble drying consumes a big amount of energy. Hanging clothes, instead of using the dryer, helps to take care of your clothes. It reduces the wear of the fabrics, produces less wrinkles, does not shrink your clothes, avoids pilling and doesn´t consume energy either.

Freshen Up

Hang your clothes outside to freshen them up. Washing clothes is a process that gradually wears away your garments while consuming water and energy. Sometimes you just need to hang them outside and brush them off to get them fresh again.

Inside Out

Turn your clothes inside out before washing to reduce the wear of the garments in the washing process, thus you’ll help to maintain the colours and to protect the materials keeping the garment's original quality.

Keep The Shape

Knitwear has elasticity, so when hanging, they may lose their original shape. To prevent them from warping, dry them flat and store them folded in the wardrobe. To maintain knitwear original elasticity, when washing, do it by hand or on a delicates programme.

Pilling

Pilling refers to the formation of small balls of fibre, common on fabrics such as wool. They form easily, but they are no reason to discard a garment. You can reduce their formation by turning your clothes inside out before washing or remove them all together using an electric lint remover.

Professional Cleaning

If you need a professional to wash your clothes, look for cleaners with wet cleaning systems for suitable garments or dry cleaning systems that use technologies that are more respectful of the environment.

Leather and Accessories

Leather is resistant but delicate. Humidity, heat, chemicals or rain must be avoided, as they can damage it. For light stains use a damp cloth, and for more difficult stains go to a dry cleaner. If it gets wet, let it air dry. For the rest of the accessories, clean them regularly with a cotton cloth or a soft brush and use environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Repair

To extend the life of your clothes, you can make small alterations at home, such as sewing on buttons, mending seams or patching small holes. If you can’t do it yourself, seek the services of a professional.

Resale

When you have Like Charlie clothes that you no longer use, you can choose to resell them. Someone could use them.

Last, But Not Least, Recycle

Once you no longer wear your clothes, do not throw them away, you can bring them to our stores and give them a new life.

This guide will help you to keep your garments in tip-top condition and care for the planet at the same time. As each product has specific instructions for washing and cleaning, it is important to study the symbols on the care labels.
